Hi, I'm Darren, a First Line IT Helpdesk Engineer currently apprenticing at AMJ IT. I have a strong passion for building, repairing, and maintaining computers. In my free time, I enjoy taking on DIY and hands-on building projects. I'm also passionate about photography, capturing the beauty of the world around me whenever I can.
I previously studied IT at Ashford College, where I gained valuable technical skills and hands-on experience. While I no longer pursue photography professionally, it remains a favorite hobby that fuels my creativity. Alongside my work in IT, I enjoy tackling DIY and computer-related projects, constantly seeking opportunities to learn and grow in both fields.

In my spare time, I’m passionate about gaming, which I believe offers valuable benefits such as enhancing creativity, problem-solving skills, and quick decision-making. Games present puzzles, challenges, and mechanics that encourage strategic thinking. I enjoy finding alternative ways to complete tasks, discovering hidden paths, and overcoming complex obstacles. Gaming keeps me mentally engaged and helps me develop innovative approaches to various in-game scenarios and challenges.
Additionally, gaming has greatly enhanced my coordination, leadership, and communication skills. Many games require teamwork and precise coordination, which has honed my ability to organize teams and guide them toward achieving common goals. Effective communication is crucial for completing missions efficiently, and through gaming, I’ve learned to collaborate effectively and make quick decisions under pressure, further improving my interpersonal and leadership abilities.

Ever since Y8, I have been interested in Web Design. In Y8 my computer science teacher introduced me to web design, ever since then i spent my breaks and lunch times enhancing my web design skills, rocketing passed my classmates.
This lead me to creating websites for exam papers in Y8(Y10 paper) and in Y9(Y11 paper). My computer science teacher marked the websites and gave me a good report back about the websites. This lead me onto further developing my skills in web design for a bit.

Once a new technology rolls over you, if you're not part of the steam roller, you're part of the road.

Ever since Y11, I found a passion within building, fixing and maintaining computers and anything to do with computing. Every time I fix, update, install, build computers, i get a sense of happiness and relief when i do these things so i kind of find this like therapy for me.
I have had many different career aspirations across my life, but I have finally settled down on to being a IT technician. This reason being is just because its something i love doing, and there is always one more thing to learn with technology.

All that is valuable in human society depends upon the opportunity for development accorded the individual.

Since Y10, i have been programming with python and C++. When i started learning python, I quickly realised this was just like web design, back then I was really into web design so I really liked programming. I knew the code was different so i was eager to learn it. Just like some people are eager to learn other spoken languages.
The way i found this similar is because, you do something, it doesnt work, you give it a tweak, and then it all works. I knew the code was different so i was eager to learn it. Just like some people are eager to learn other spoken languages. Over time i have let my skills grow with different languages, always willing to learn more.

Photography is the simplest thing in the world, but it is incredibly complicated to make it really work.

Now photography. Photography I love, ive studied for 2 years in photography and have got a grade 5. Due to covid my grade was a little lower than expected cause of missed work. The reason why I love photography is I like to capture hwo things move, work, even how they just sit idle. It all just looks good to me.
Whilst doing photography, my photoshop skills has also increased, as with part of photography is editing, and editing is the best part about it. This is because you can just see every different way your picture can look. Some really bad, some funny, some absolutely perfect.

Im Creative

After playing a wide variety of games, programming different things, and building different things, I have found many different ways to get around issues, im sure i could apply this to whatever i can.

Im Repectful

I have respect for my teams i work with and try and have a good relationship with them. I also can describe different things in a simplified way.

Im fast

When im set with a task, i like to get it done fast, and if its for a deadline, it will be done by the deadline, if not, done earlier.

I hate issues.

If there is a issue, im down to fix it. Wether its small or large. wether it requires me to fully rebuild something or just replace something, im always down to fix it

Im responsible

If i make a mistake, i will own up to it, as we dont learn unless we make mistakes. If i can find a chance where i can improve myself, i will try and improve.

Im Friendly

I always like to talk, wether its serious or not. I can be pretty funny, and if you have the same interests as me, im extra friendly ;D
